Avery and Stefan had quite a bit of stress and disappointment leading up to their wedding day, as many couples did who had weddings planned during this time. Originally, they had planned to honeymoon in Europe and have a Catholic ceremony in a church in France, after their wedding here at home with family and friends. When their honeymoon had to be cancelled, so did their dream ceremony in France so they decided to do the Catholic Ceremony at Holy Cross Church in Lafayette just a few days before their big weekend wedding.
I was happy to be able to capture this day for Avery and Stefan. Avery wanted a first look with both Stefan and her dad – both, such sweet moments to photograph. Avery looked beautiful in her beaded gown and long cathedral-length veil and her parents’ yard was a perfect location for photos – even in the middle of the day!
Once the first look was over, we took a few portraits of Avery and Stefan then headed to Lafayette for the small and intimate church ceremony. I know these ceremonies aren’t what brides have dreamed of, but I found it to be so sweet and intimate with just them and their parents. I also made sure to capture the caution tape on the pews blocking off every other row so that people could properly social distance. It may not make for the most beautiful images but it’s a story that Avery and Stefan will one day have to tell their children and grandchildren!
I’m so honored that we were able to be there for this special moment between Avery and Stefan – come back soon to see the images from their much larger and beautiful wedding at Maison De Tours in St. Martinville!
