Chelsea and Austin chose to do their summer engagement session at Botanical Gardens in New Orleans.  This is one of my favorite City Park locations for bridals and engagements because there is so much variety throughout the gardens.  After your engagement session at the Botanical Gardens, its just a short walk to do some photos in City Park as well.  This is what we did with Austin and Chelsea.

Don’t hesitate to ask for help or advice when making the decision on where to take your photos.  Chelsea put a lot of thought into where she wanted to take the photos and being able to look through the various locations I have listed on my engagement photo location post was a big help for her.   She also asked questions and we eventually settled on the Botanical Gardens based on what look she was wanting.  It’s also a good option because there are restrooms available for you to change outfits.  You don’t always find bathrooms at a lot of locations out there!

Word of warning for the brides out there – make sure you eat before a session!   Poor Austin was so hungry, I’m pretty sure all he could think about during the session was going to eat a good meal afterwards LOL   That’s another great perk to doing a session in New Orleans – tons of options for a good dinner at the session!  I try my best to make everyone comfortable and relaxed during the session; especially the groom’s because most of them aren’t that excited about taking photos to begin with.  Even when a couple feels awkward at the beginning of a session, by the end, they all warm up and hopefully start to enjoy the experience!

Chelsea and Austin will be having their wedding at La Patinoire later this year and I can’t wait to work with them again as well as with Aaron Sanchez of Charlie Jane Events!  We’ll also be taking bridal portraits with Chelsea sometime in the next few months – looking forward to it!
