A Morgan City beach engagement session? Unless you are from Morgan City or you are a camper who’s explored some of our local parks, you may not realize that there’s a beach just 30 minutes away from Houma. When we lived in Morgan City, I remember the first time I took Hayden there. Lake End Park was the first place we ever explored in Morgan City and I have many photos of him there. When he was little, he called it “the small beach.” It was never one of my favorite photo locations because it was pretty much where everyone went for photos. Now that I live in Houma, I haven’t taken photos there in probably 7-8 years. To be honest, I had forgotten about it. Several months ago, when another photographer and I were talking about locations for her to bring one of her clients, I had mentioned the beach in Fountainebleau State Park. It’s a popular place for photos on the Northshore, but it’s a pretty good drive from Houma. That’s when it dawned on me that we have a very similar location right in our own backyard!
Jasmine chose the Cypress Garden in Morgan City as her location for engagement photos after looking over the location idea list that I have for my clients. When we were texting back and forth about it, I remembered the Morgan City beach and knew it would be perfect for them as well. When I suggested it, Jasmine said they trusted me and went along with the plan!
I started to get a nervous when we entered the park around 7:15 and I realized it was a Sunday afternoon, in the summer. Once I saw how many people were in the water and scattered on the beach, I knew it would be a challenge. But, thankfully, by the time Jasmine and Cody had changed into their “beach attire,” many people had left. I was easily able to shoot around the rest of them. Doesn’t it look like it was just the two of them strolling along and dancing on that beach? 😉
I had such a great time with these two that afternoon! It was a beautiful evening for a beach engagement session. A little hot, but when is it not hot in July? Can you believe they were worried about looking stiff in their photos? They were awesome to work with and I can’t wait for Jasmine’s bridals and their wedding next year!
