Boy Girl Twin Cake Smash Session – Isabel and Leo

What a year it’s been getting to photograph these twin babies!  I can’t believe it’s already been a year since I first met Isabel and Leo at their Fresh 48 session.  Watching and documenting their three big sisters meeting them for the first time was something I won’t forget.  (Side note – I really, really miss Fresh 48 sessions!).  You can see more sibling sweetness in their newborn images – Amelie, Eleanor and Juliet are the best big sisters!

For their milestone sessions, we did a 3 month and 6 month session.  You’d think that it would be chaotic with two babies, but they were so good for all of their sessions.  I was nervous about their 1 year session because I figured the other ones were just too easy!  I brought in my sister, Amanda, for an extra set of hands and I’m so glad I did since these two are very mobile now.  Even walking and crawling, they were fairly easy to photograph!

Mom wanted a simple set up with a vintage nursery rhyme theme for the cake smash.  She had sent a couple of sample images for guidance and made the banner herself from a vintage nursery rhyme book.  She also brought the vintage high chair / potty chair from home, which went along so well with the banner.  I’ve had the stack of Little Golden books in my studio forever and love to incorporate them into sessions.  I love the simplicity of their cake smash session and watching them was probably one of my favorite smashes ever.  They would grunt at each other in their own little twin language.  They’d taste their own cake and then reach over to grab some from their sibling’s cake.  Isabel got really into her cake and flung icing all over the room (scroll past the images to see a low quality video that I took of them).

Such a bittersweet moment to finish their Grow with Me year and know I won’t see them every few months anymore!  Happy birthday Isabel and Leo!
