Wedding at La Patinoire – Brittany and Shane

Brittany and Shane’s had their wedding at La Patinoire in Schriever last weekend.   The ceremony and reception were both held there and decorated by the fabulous Aaron Sanchez of Charlie Jane Events.   Brittany’s gorgeous dress, I just loved the neckline and sleeves, came from Bridal Corner in Thibodaux and the florals were from Bloom’s by Asia.   See the list below for the rest of their wedding vendors.

When asked to describe her wedding in three words, Brittany responded, “missing loved ones.”  This sweet couple has lost 5 of their loved ones in under 2 years and their presence could be felt throughout the day.   A photo of the bride’s mom sat in the prep room near a vase of roses and later on the front row of the ceremony and also hung from Brittany’s bouquet next to a guardian angel pin.   A photo of the groom’s stepfather also sat on the front row and the boutonniere also featured tiny photos of him and their other lost family members.  It was a bittersweet evening, 12 years in the making, but Brittany and Shane were surrounded by the support and love of the friends and family they still have on this earth.  They also have two beautiful daughters, Claire and Allie and together are just the sweetest and most beautiful family.

La Patinoire is a wonderful venue for a wedding – an all-in-one location that just keeps getting better.  Not only does it have a bridal suite, like some other venues in the area, but there is also a man cave for the guys to hang out and get ready in.   This makes is especially easy for me to be able to grab a few shots of the groom and still be able to capture the bride getting ready.  There’s no travel time in between venues, everything is just right there and there’s a pretty little courtyard, perfect for photos.

At the end of the night, Brittany asked if we could get the moon into a photo of she and Shane.  Shane’s stepfather loved looking at the moon and talked about it often up until his last days.  The night of their wedding happened to be a full moon and I was able to capture some sweet shots of the two of them with the moon overhead.  The moon was pretty high in the sky by this point, so I enhanced it a bit with some Photoshop magic 🙂   I hope these photos bring some peace to Brittany and Shane.   They told me that the whole day and night, the presence of their loved ones could be felt all around.  I’m sure that Brittany’s mom, aunt and grandfather as well as Shane’s stepfather and grandfather were all together, smiling down on them and their two beautiful daughters all night.
