17 Day Old Mia – Newborn Mini Session

It’s been a rough week and it’s only Wednesday …. anyone else just ready for the weekend?   Although I love this beautiful sunny day with no humidity, my body is craving an overcast day that would justify being curled up on the couch, watching HGTV.  I’ve had a nagging headache for about 4-5 days now and I just need some relief and maybe just a day of rest.

Enough about that, check out this gorgeous baby girl, Mia.  Several weeks ago, I did a model call for a promotional project that my friends, Our Story Films are doing for me.  Although I don’t have that to share yet, I can share the resulting images from the mini session I did with this sweet girl – isn’t she just perfect?  Mia’s parents drove in from Franklin for this session and I couldn’t be more appreciative.  I wanted to pull in a little bit of a fall aesthetic and use some things I don’t often use, so that’s why you see the dark green floral and the sweet, lemony yellow.  I can’t recall using either of these in the last several years.  It’s always fun to do something different.  Mia’s nursery is sage green with daisy accents, so I wanted to pull that in for a setup as well.  My favorite part of setting up newborn sessions is using lots of different textures, I think it brings so much depth and interest to the images – as you can see with Mia’s photos.

Our original session was postponed because I was sick, so by the time we got Mia in for her session, she was about 2 1/2 weeks old.   While that is definitely not “too old” for newborn photos, over 10 days old, I start to get a little nervous that things won’t go as smoothly as they could.   But Mia was a champ and did amazing – she slept soundly and peacefully the whole time.   She was the perfect model for both the photographs and the resulting video (coming soon!).   Thank you again, not only to Alyce and Thad for driving here and trusting me with your sweet Mia, but to Blayne and Brad at Our Story Films for doing some behind-the-scenes for me!
