Allison and Matt’s wedding day at Bayou Haven in Alexandria, Louisiana, was such a meaningful one to be part of. These two are good friends of my sister, which made the whole day feel even more personal, and it was extra special knowing my brother-in-law, Chad, was the one officiating their ceremony.
Bayou Haven made such a pretty backdrop for their day. The property has so much character, from the charming little wedding chapel to the beautiful barn, all tucked among big trees and overlooking a pond. Even with weather that definitely kept us on our toes, the setting could not have been more fitting for such a sweet celebration.
Thankfully, the rain held off long enough for us to get outdoor photos before the ceremony. Then, almost right on cue, it rained during the ceremony itself. And just to keep things interesting, it stopped just long enough afterward for us to sneak outside and grab a handful of portraits before the skies opened back up again. Everyone just rolled with it, including the bride and groom, who were just happy to finally be married!
One of my favorite details was the cake by Laura Bakes. It was a Chantilly cake with soft pink icing and decorated with fresh fruit, including pomegranates, which made it feel especially unique and memorable. It was one of those details that immediately stood out in the best way.
The reception had some personal touches, including recipe cards for guests to fill out in place of a traditional guest book. I always love details like that—something sentimental, practical, and full of personality all at once. It felt like such a fitting choice for a wedding centered around connection and celebrating with the people they love most.
The vendor team helped everything come together so well, even with the weather challenges. Joann Mire kept the day moving as planner, DJ Shan kept the celebration going, and Simply Southern handled the catering.
And to top it all off, Allison and Matt ended the night with a sword exit, which was such a fun and memorable way to close out the day.
