What a year to get married, am I right? Oh wait, that was last year … and so far, 2021 isn’t looking any better! But it makes me so happy when my couples are still able to move ahead with their weddings. Like Kaitlyn and Grant having their winter wedding at St. Joseph Co-Cathedral. These two have been apart for so long while Grant was in California serving in the Marine Corp. After so much time apart, they definitely deserve the wedding of their dreams!
I remember first meeting with Kaitlyn and her mother-in-law, Katie, last January. They told me all about Grant and we talked about what Kaitlyn wanted and how the day would go. Back then, none of us knew the obstacles that we would all face just over a month after that first meeting! Thankfully, Kaitlyn and Grant had their beautiful wedding at St. Joseph Co-Cathedral right on schedule and with lots of family and friends to celebrate with them. Of course, the regular restrictions were in place, but I do all I can to make sure my clients’ wedding photos don’t really look like they were taken in the middle of a pandemic. (I’ve spent hours removing bright blue painter’s tape from images over the last several months.)
St. Joseph Co-Cathedral still had all of its beautiful Christmas decor up and it made such a gorgeous backdrop for this wedding. Kaitlyn got ready at the Dansereau House with all of her girls and the bold colors of the bed and breakfast paired perfectly with the red bridesmaids’ dresses. (Be sure to check out her Dansereau House bridal session!) When that color scheme was carried over into the church decorations, I was so excited to capture all the details!
After their wedding at St. Joseph’s Co-Cathedral, Kaitlyn and Grant had their reception at The Foundry. Their band, Good Feelin’, does such a great job of keeping everyone dancing and having an amazing time from the moment they start until the very last song. None of the guests wanted the party to end! It was a blast capturing so many fun dancing photos – even the grandparents had a great time! And of course, despite the very cold night, there were tons of sparklers to usher Kaitlyn and Grant out of the reception and end their night beautifully!
