There’s something truly special about Southern plantation weddings, and Victoria and Evan’s wedding at Ducros Plantation was an absolute dream! From the stately elegance of the historic home to the joy-filled celebration under the stars, every detail of their day was thoughtfully planned and beautifully executed.
Having previously photographed Victoria and Evan’s engagement session and bridal portraits at Ducros, it was such a treat to return for their wedding day. Getting to know Mrs. Angela at Ducros Plantation along the way made the experience even more memorable.
A Stunning Southern Wedding Venue: Ducros Plantation
If you’re looking for a venue that embodies Southern charm and elegance, Ducros Plantation in Schriever, Louisiana is the perfect place! With its gorgeous chandeliers, vintage furnishings, and sprawling oak trees, this historic estate creates the most romantic wedding backdrop.
Victoria and her bridesmaids got ready in the top floor of the plantation home, which made for breathtaking pre-ceremony portraits. The crystal chandeliers and stately furniture elevated every photo, making them feel timeless and elegant.
One of my favorite details? Victoria and Evan’s wedding invitations, which featured a beautiful sketch of Ducros Plantation inside the envelope—such a perfect personal touch!
A Family-Filled Celebration
This wedding was extra special for me because I’ve worked with Evan’s family before! Several years ago, I photographed his brother Shelby’s wedding, so seeing familiar faces and getting to document another milestone for this wonderful family was such a joy.
A funny moment? Evan’s groom’s cake—a box of wine! If you scroll to the bottom of the post, you’ll see how history repeated itself in the most hilarious way. When I first arrived, I didn’t immediately recognize Evan, but the moment I saw that cake, it all came rushing back!
The Kelly family is so close-knit, and the love between Evan, Shelby, and their parents was evident throughout the day. It’s always heartwarming to capture weddings where family bonds are strong and filled with so much joy.
Breathtaking Décor & Thoughtful Details
Victoria put so much love and care into every aspect of their wedding. From the vintage centerpieces to the incredible charcuterie table, she designed and planned so many of the details herself. Even the cake table décor was her vision, and it turned out absolutely stunning!
To bring it all together, Aaron Sanchez of Charlie Jane Events handled the planning and coordinating. I always love working with Aaron because you just know a wedding day will run smoothly when she’s in charge.
An Unforgettable Reception Under the Stars
The outdoor reception at Ducros Plantation was nothing short of magical. Even though it was one of the coldest March nights I can remember, no one seemed to mind once the party got started!
Thanks to Nola Sweet Creations, the drinks (and shots!) kept everyone warm as they danced the night away. DJ Tiny kept the energy high, and the dance floor stayed full all night. It was one of those wedding receptions where you could just feel the love, laughter, and celebration in the air.
