One of my favorite things about newborn sessions is planning and styling them, especially when a client has a specific vision. I mentioned in the post about Kayla and Austin’s maternity session, that water has always been a big part of their relationship. They met while competitive sailing, their engagement session was done on a sailboat and they both work on the water. So in addition to doing their maternity session at the beach, they wanted to incorporate a “beachy vibe” in Annabelle’s newborn session as well. Even Annabelle’s Fresh 48 had some beach elements in it!
Kayla requested pink, pale blue, and white. I really love how this whole session turned out! My favorite image is the one of Annabelle in the bucket, surrounded by seashells. Usually, I don;t take a really long time trying to make the baby do something they are resisting when I can just move on and have them in a different prop or pose. But for Annabelle, I really, really wanted to get this bucket pose! It took a couple of tries to get her situated because she is really tiny (I think just under 6 pounds at the session), but when I finally got her in and settled, I was so excited! The coral and seashells that I surrounded her with were collected by my husband over the years – mostly from Jamaica and the Keys. All the colors just worked so perfectly and Kayla had brought her own little seashell headband that just completed the whole look. I hope they love and cherish this photo of their little mermaid baby. I’m sure she is going to love the water and the beach just as much as her mom and dad!
