Cassidy and Brandon met and dated when they went to high school together, but when they graduated, their lives went in separate directions. Brandon went off to the military while Cassidy went to college, but years later, they wound up back in each other’s lives. Brandon said when they met up again, “it was as if nothing had ever changed.” They both felt like they could be themselves with each other and even enjoyed doing things like fishing together, something Brandon didn’t think he would find in a wife.
They have such a sweet love story and a loving, respectful dynamic. Watching the two of them together was so sweet and feels like being a part of something really special.
The getting ready part of the day was full of laughter – inside jokes, funny family stories, strange nicknames – it was anything but boring. Cassidy and her family, specifically her sister Ashley, have a great relationship and are so much fun to be around. While Cassidy and her girls got ready upstairs at her sister’s house, Brandon and his brother were getting ready downstairs. I think one of my favorite moments was listening to both of them tell parts of their love story while Nathan Brenner of Brenner Weddings interviewed them for their wedding video. I wasn’t able to do an engagement session with them because they currently live in South Carolina, so it was nice to hear a bit of their story and get to know them a little better – something I usually get to hear during an engagement session. At the last minute, they chose not to do the first look but did do a first look where they said a prayer together and Brandon described what he thought Cassidy’s dress looked like (he was pretty close!)
Their wedding at St. Gregory Barbarigo Catholic Church in Houma was presided over by several officiants. Cassidy worked at St. Gregory as music director for several years, so it holds a special place in her heart. You could tell there was love and mutual respect between her and the priests in attendance. After a beautiful Catholic ceremony, the guests all headed to St. Ann Community Center for the reception. St. Ann parish is where Cassidy grew up, so having their reception in a familiar place, close to family just made sense. The reception decor and catering were done by Percy and Deann of Inspired Designs. The cake and flowers were actually done by Cassidy’s mom and sister, Denise and Ashley! Throughout the day, there were many moments that showcased the closeness this family shares and it was an honor to experience this day with all of them!
