Wedding at Bayou Country Club – Mattie and Hatton

What could possibly be a better way to start a new relationship than attending mass together?  I can’t think of a more God-ordained beginning than that!   You can head over to their engagement session post to read a little more about their story.  Ironically, I used Matthew 7:24-27 in that post, not knowing how much it would apply to their wedding day.

The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock.”  Matthew 7:25

And the rain certainly came down on Saturday, but that didn’t stop these two from declaring their commitment before God and their families at St. Francis.   Despite the wind and rain, Mattie and Hatton are married and ready to spend their lives together!

Mattie and her girls got ready at Big Oak Cottage, an Airbnb located in Bayou Black.  It was a precious little cottage underneath a beautiful line of oak trees.  Thankfully, it had the sweetest front porch where we could take all of the girls’ photos without getting wet.  And can I just say quickly how much I loved their invitations?  I love the colors and the floral details, so pretty!  I also really love Mattie’s ring, the rose cold is so unique – it’s stunning!  The gold bracelet that she wore belonged to Hatton’s mother and was given to her by his grandparents.  Such a sentimental touch that I know meant the world to both of them.

Mattie and Hatton’s Catholic ceremony was beautiful.  The priest took his time to speak with them and the congregation, stressing the importance of celebrating this momentous occasion.  After the ceremony was over, we were able to get a couple of bridal party photos outside – the rain had finally stopped!

The guests headed over to the reception at Bayou Country Club, ready to celebrate with the new Mr. and Mrs. Ross.  Mattie and Hatton’s guestbook was really unique – a custom painting of St. Francis that the guests could sign.  It was a beautiful touch and reminder of where they first met as well as where they were married.   Even Mattie’s dog Zola made a little appearance on the cake – I love how they had her take a bite out of the icing.   After the introductions, dances and other wedding festivities were over, Mattie and Hatton danced the night away with their guests.  It was a perfect evening and I was so honored to be there to capture it for them!
