At 4 months old, babies are so full of wonder – bright eyes, the sweetest little smiles and just beginning to explore the world around them.  This is a great age for milestone photos, capturing the first sweet moments of a baby’s personality.  As a baby photographer specializing in milestone photography, I love creating soft, natural, and timeless portraits that capture the unique personalities of babies at this age.  This recent session with baby Eloise was filled with so much joy!  From her sweet little coos to those precious smiles that light up her whole face, I captured it all in a simple way that let Eloise’s personality shine.  Isn’t her smile just so contagious?  And the hair, my goodness, I cannot believe she still has so much hair.   She was born with all that beautiful, blond hair – you can see her newborn photos here.  She was so alert and curious, which made some adorable, heartwarming photos!  We even were able to do a few christening photos featuring a beautiful gown that was worn by several generations of their family!

If you are planning on a 4-month milestone session for your baby, here are a few tips to ensure your baby’s personality is the star:

• Dress them in soft, neutral tones that baby will be comfortable in.  At this age, more fitted clothing is ideal because they’ll be lying down.  Even just diaper covers work great because we can add in wraps and layers for texture.
• Plan the session around nap time to ensure they are bright-eyed and happy.  Earlier appointments are usually more successful because later in the day, the baby may be overstimulated.
• Wait until baby can tolerate tummy time and can hold their head up fairly well.  This allows us to capture more variety in the photos and not just baby lying on their back
