Palmer was originally scheduled to come on a Thursday by c-section, but early Sunday morning, he decided he was ready to make his debut at St. Tammany Parish Hospitaall! Getting at text at 5:45 on a Sunday morning, I jumped up and hurried to the Northshore just in time to capture Palmer’s birth. Birth photography is just an amazing experience! Watching the doctors pull him out and hold him up to his parents, seeing the immediate love and pride on his dad’s face and getting to capture his first moments – I can’t even describe how that feels. Palmer had been breech pretty much through the entire pregnancy and I’d never witnessed a breech baby before. I was so stunned by the way his legs kept popping back up near his head!
After photographing Ashley and Michael’s wedding several years ago, witnessing the birth of their first child was so rewarding – watching their family go from just the two of them to three. Watching Ashley, who I’ve known since she was in high school (she and my sister have been friends since then), have quiet, skin on skin time with her new baby boy. Watching Michael, such a proud new dad, smile with pride at his new son. I even get to witness family meeting this precious new boy for the first time! It’s just an experience that most people only get when they have their own babies!
Ashley and Michael – I’m so happy for the two of you and I look forward to watching Palmer grow and change over the years. Congratulations – love you guys!
