When I was first learning the ropes of photography, I have to admit it wasn’t pretty. I made tons of mistakes, like the time I didn’t keep backups of sessions OR weddings and the hard drive I kept everything on fell over and broke. Thankfully, I was able to have everything recovered, but I definitely learned a huge lesson that day! There have been many, many mistakes along this 14 year journey, but I keep climbing and growing, learning more and more every day. I never stop my education, even after all of this time. While I’m editing, I’m watching wedding or newborn education courses that I’ve purchased or I’m watching YouTube videos on things in the industry that I’m interested in. No matter where you are in your journey, remember to never give up. Keep going, keep learning, keep pursuing that dream!
And throughout these last 14 years, I have been so, so fortunate to meet and work with so many amazing families. Truly, I can’t recall a single time that I had issues with someone I worked with – every single one of them has been kind, understanding, grateful and appreciative. That isn’t something I take lightly, I know how much of a blessing it is to only have good experiences in my business!
This beautiful family is no different. Cruz was born just days before Hurricane Ida and I first met him and his family when he was a couple of months old (scroll to the end to see a comparison of how much all the kids have grown since that day!) Like many families in the area, their home was destroyed and now, a year later, they are still in the process of rebuilding. I can’t imagine how difficult it has been for them, especially with 4 young children, but each time, Jesenia has been calm, kind and a joy to work with. In some sessions, we’ve recreated images that big brother had taken and in this session, Cruz even wore the same outfit! I’m going to miss seeing Cruz’s precious little face ever few months and I pray that they are back in their home soon!
